Moving Loveliness

So I was about to go to bed but decided to work on some photographs instead and... I have to admit I got slightly sidetracked! I stumbled upon these little beauties. I had never seen Jamie Beck & Kevin Burg's 'Cinemagraphs' before, I could just stare at them for hours. How captivating are these small fragments of time?

Here are a few of my favourites, check out their website for more!

I hope you are having a fantastic week!
New items will be posted on The Splendid Suitcase within the next few days.

Oh and here is a silly animation of me in the woods that we forgot to include in our last post!

Ce Chat Est Fou!

Good evening!

I just thought I'd start off by saying that we are overwhelmed by your comments and feedback both on this blog and our Etsy shop. We feel very lucky to have such lovely people supporting us. A big thanks to all of you!

So today, after a lovely lunch at a small japanese restaurant called Pompoko, me and Alec went to the park, It was such a nice day and very warm for November (even though I did feel like an ice-cube after we took these photos!) I really hope it gets colder soon, I would love a white Christmas! We saw plenty of little creatures along the way, including a very friendly (slightly mad) cat who followed us everywhere, I have to admit I felt like snow white! Then Alec saw a perfect climbing tree, I would have joined him but my shoes are too big for me so I wisely chose to avoid a disaster!

I'm wearing a beautiful handmade 1950s dress which will be available on our Etsy shop within the next couple of weeks, I know we haven't posted new items for a while but we're working hard and cannot wait to show you our new finds!

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's F F F Frrrrriday!!!

Eh up!

Firstly, we would like to apologise for missing the last 'Thank Frock It's Friday' & 'Dress Of The Week'. We were extremely busy picking out bits and bobs in France.

Margaux is wearing:

✩ Vintage French 1950s Handmade Silk Evening Dress

✩ Faux Fur Stole & Vintage Broach

✩ Belt Was A Charity Shop Find

✩ Heels were from a little French Boutique

We have since set up our first stall at Frock Me Vintage Fair, which went very well! We very much enjoyed ourselves and would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who came along. The flat has been like an obstacle course for the past week or so, it is always fun when you have to do a triple back flip over a pile of suitcases, then crawl under the ironing board and hop over shoes and bags just to get into bed...

Here was our first stall! To be honest, we were extremely nervous...
Most of these items will feature on The Splendid Suitcase's Etsy Shop so keep them peepers peeled!!!

I took this photo while in France, I think it is one of my favourite photographs. We had a wonderful time and brought back far too much stuff! Margaux's little Renault Clio was brimming full of vintage treasures. I know it is a little bit late but here is a picture of the pumpkins we carved for Halloween and an old photograph we found of me and my sister when we were nippers. Hope everyone had a great Halloween, it is definitely one of my favourite days of the year!

On our way back home after taking photos of the dress, we saw a few friends and I had a go at slacklining. I was awful, and i mean terrible...

We're off to Bournemouth in a while as Im playing a gig at The Winchester with The Peppermint Beat Band. I'll be wearing my poppy for Armistice Day and paying my respects. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Much Love,

Alec & Margaux

Good Evening!!!

I wrapped Margaux up for this week's outfit, it was FREEEEZING here in England. I have work on the stall tomorrow and I am definitely going to have to wrap up warm, three pairs of socks I'm thinking. My very good friend Josh bought me a new Chelsea scarf for my birthday last week, Cheers Fella! Josh is partners in crime with a lovely lady called Kerry who writes a wonderful blog, you should definitely have a read!!! Here is the link below.

Since we took these photo's about an hour ago, we have stayed on the sofa still in our coats, and it wasn't a good idea because now we are dreading taking them off! I've just turned the radiator on and put scarves over the window frames to stop the sea breeze slipping in. This boat we live in is awful draughty...

Margaux is wearing :

A brand new (purchased today) faux fur hat from Primark for a fiver!

The coat was worn by my mother in the 1970s when she was at Guildhall College of Music studying the violin

T - Shirt was my Dad's band 'The Lost Patrol' printed on the front. "High Action & Adventure"

The trousers are from the late 1940s or early 1950s and are turquoise, brown and black pinstriped and high waisted. The colours are soo vibrant!!! These will be available to purchase from our Etsy Shop in the next few days

Heels were a present from Margaux's lovely Mummy & the bag was found in a Bric a Brac shop in Brittany

  The pier looked sparkling tonight!

And the sun set wasn't bad either! See if you can spot the Owl on the rooftop...

Have A Great Night You Lot!

Family Fun.

Good Evening,

Terribly sorry for the delay in this week's 'Thank Frock It's Friday' but it has been a hectic weekend and we have mostly been on the road. It was also my Grandmother's 80th Birthday so we popped back to Northampton for a family gathering. To stick with this week's family theme, we asked my little sister Emily to pose for our chosen outfit.

★ Faux Fur Snood From ASOS

★ Vintage 1970s burnt orange dress with bell sleeves AVAILABLE HERE

★ Belt was a charity shop find

★ Owl ring from H&M

★ Antique ring from Scrooge

★ Orange ring from a vintage fair

★ Topshop shoes from quite a few years back

Judging by the next few pictures you are probably going to be under the impression that we have been messing around playing games, but I hadn't played conkers since school and thought it would be a good old fashioned English game to show Margaux. Game On! England Vs France AGAIN. In the left corner, on her debut and wearing her 'most comfortable' pink and peach floral dress, against the Englishman in blue and in the right corner wearing a stupid face. Could this be beginners luck for the little French woman or could it be revenge for the rugby world cup match last weekend?!?...
Out of extreme excitement, I totally missed her conker. Then Margaux lined up a gooden' and tangled them both up. As you can see, we are quite the Pros! It was hilariously funny and it had the whole party in hysterics...

We also have another few snaps to show you of our last trip to France coming in the next few days and 'Dress Of The Week' tomorrow!!!

Hope you have had a splendid weekend,

Alec

La Petite Mangue et Un Troupeau D'éléphants Dressés

For this Mondays 'Dress Of The Week' we chose this lovely late 1950s / early 1960s A - Line Dress. The pattern is just wonderful and its simplicity means you can wear it with pretty much anything, even a tea pot hat!

We are planning another trip back to France this week so we will be leaving a post featuring some snapshots from our last trip. Also it is my birthday tomorrow so no doubt there will be a story or two to tell you...

Bonne nuit mes amis & we hope you like the dress!

Alec

The Starlings Of Brighton Pier

For today's 'Dress Of The Week', we thought we would go and pay the starlings a little visit along the pier. It is only a stone's throw away, so we often walk down there. It is mesmerising to watch them dance and swoop, so trying to take a decent photograph of the dress and not the birds became quite an obstacle.

The dress we have chosen is a wonderful powder blue French 1940s dress with cap sleeves, fitted waist and full circle skirt. Hope you like it!!!

Have a lovely evening,

Alec & Margaux
