Thank Frock it's Friday!

Good morning! We're still breaking temperature records here in England, it's just amazing! We put together a little friday night outfit featuring one of our favourite finds, this 1950s cotton dress is just lovely and oh so comfortable! (you can find it HERE) I love how it can be worn with nearly everything and look fantastic! I got my heels from Rockit in London a few years ago, my head-scarf and bag were both charity shop finds. Hope you enjoy!

The pictures were taken with a fuji instax 210, we've had it for about a year and a half now and have been taking tons of photographs. The other day we decided that those little instant treasures should have a special home, I've kept hold of a beautiful empty postcard album from the 1920s/30s and immediately thought we should use it to preserve our cherished memories! I'm really excited to have an object which we will be able to look back on in a few years time, diary of moments. I'm going to start putting it together today and will make sure to keep you posted on the progress!

Have a fantastic day!

The Starlings Of Brighton Pier

For today's 'Dress Of The Week', we thought we would go and pay the starlings a little visit along the pier. It is only a stone's throw away, so we often walk down there. It is mesmerising to watch them dance and swoop, so trying to take a decent photograph of the dress and not the birds became quite an obstacle.

The dress we have chosen is a wonderful powder blue French 1940s dress with cap sleeves, fitted waist and full circle skirt. Hope you like it!!!

Have a lovely evening,

Alec & Margaux

That squirrel is off its nut...

Good Morning,

We have compiled another outfit for 'Thank Frock It's Friday' from our dearly beloved collection for you. We took the pictures in a wonderful little place in Brighton called Queens Park and met a few friends en route...

We were unsure of the red object that he had stashed in the trunk of the tree.

So here it is, from top down:

★ Jacket : Very pretty navy blue jacket with an impeccable fur neckline from the early 1940s.

★ Blouse : Vintage 60s white cotton pearl buttoned down shirt with beautiful and intricate cut work floral pattern.

★ Skirt : 1950s Accordion pleated skirt.

★ Handbag : 1970s White Handbag.

★ Tights : Stay ups from H&M

★ Shoes : Low Heels from Rokit a few years back.

The Jacket, Blouse and Handbag will be available to purchase from our Etsy shop as of next week!!!

Alec's band are playing at a festival this weekend so we will no doubt be knee deep in mud and picking out ridiculous costumes all weekend!  Any item that is purchased from The Splendid Suitcase as of 3 o'clock (UK time) Friday 23rd up until Sunday 25th will be shipped on the following Monday!

Have a wonderful weekend mes amis!!!

Je deteste les mouettes...

Made in France in the late 1960s to early 1970s this beautifully patterned Bohemian Chic Floral Maxi Dress was and easy choice for today's 'Dress Of The Week'. There didn't seem to be a summer in England this year, few lovely days here and there but when Margaux put this on, the Sun shone like a gooden'! So we went for a little stroll down the seafront to picture this little beauty and guess what, I got pooed on by a bloody seagull while taking one of the photographs. So Margaux had a little laugh and I had to change my shirt, at least it went for the photographer and not the dress...

I hope you enjoy it!
Over & Out,

Alec

P.s - This dress will be available on our Etsy shop in the next few days!!!

Tutti Fruity...

So here it is, we told you it was a bit fruity eh? Toootally tropical. As soon as we discovered this garment, we both took a few seconds to awe at its beauty, then snapped our necks back upright and stared at each other with mouths open that wide you probably could have fit the whole dress into one of them. This 1960s Baby Doll Mini Dress sure does put a cheeky smile on your face! It is one of those dresses that you could slip on if you feel a bit down that day and it will cheer you right up, That is why it is our Dress Of The Week.

We do hope you like it,

Alec & Margaux

P.s We have something special in store for you in the next few days, 'keep your eyes peeled!'

We are also very excited for Monday to come as we have a sensational 'Dress Of The Week' in store for you, its tutti and slightly fruity. We have an inkling that you may enjoy this one...

They Call It Stormy Monday...

A very stormy Monday in Brighton indeed, one minute it was raining cats and dogs and the next it was as sunny as our 1st "Dress Of The Week", which we have featured above. It is a 1960s psychedelic trapeze dress and we thought it would be perrrrrrfect, as the autumnal colours fit in lovely with the end of summer and the start of the colder months.

We wrapped up and went for a evening stroll along the beach. The waves were monstrous! We could barely stand up long enough to take a picture. T-Bone's 'Stormy Monday' popped into my head, hense the name for my first post. I managed to get a photograph of how fearsome the waves were and we headed back to warmth. It was all worth it afterward, when you look in the mirror and chuckle, as it looks like you have had your head hanging out of a car window going at 100 mile an hour. I love getting that delightful taste of salt on your lips too. Here's a little clip of the man himself, T-Bone Walker.

Over & Out.

Seaside fun

Good evening! I'm exhausted but I'm happy! We have put our first few items on our Etsy shop! We are really excited and also very sorry not to have stuck to our blogging schedule! We have been busier than ever, I promise we will get on track next week but for now here is an outfit I wore two days ago. Alec & I have a small flat near the Brighton seafront and seeing it was such a nice day, we decided to take the opportunity to go on a walk and take a few pictures.

I've got a good feeling about september, we might very well be getting some sun!

I am wearing a 1930s French dress, a bag & hat that I got from a charity shop and my heels are from H&M (I bought them about 4 years ago and it looks like they've brought them out again.)

The dress will be available to purchase from our shop next week: click here if you'd like to have a look at our other items, we'd love to get your feedback!

Right, I'm off to have a warm bath and get some sleep! I'll post more tomorrow!
